The CoreValve ReValving Sysytem comprises traditional interventional
elements such as a guidewire, a delivery catheter, a tissue heart valve
mounted on a self-expanding stent, and a valve-tot-catheter loading
device. Each component has been re-engineered to meet the requirements
of the percutaneous implantation challenge.
The cardiac laboratory based proceedure is completed by an interventional
cardiologist under local anesthia and uses standard fluoroscopy for
guidance. It calls for primary valvuloplasty, followed by deployment
of the new bioprothesis across the annulus of the failing target heart
valve. The Corevalve System not only offers an effective clinical
treatment for heart valve disease at substantially reduced trauma levels,
but also addresses to global healthcare system's growing need to contain
direct and indirect treatment costs.
Caution:This device is in the early stages of developement
and is not available for clinical trials or for distribution until
